Alison Boyle

Alison Boyle studied English and Creative Design at Loughborough University then took a post-graduate diploma in publishing at Oxford Brookes. She worked in publishing in copywriting, editing and commissioning, initially for a German book club magazine then for various UK presses as a publisher and consultant. In 2010 she joined Arts Council England, which seeks to ‘conduct research, give expert advice, promote partnerships and do other activities to help the creative and cultural sector develop’. Her development of literature in the North of England involves independent publishers, writing development agencies, festivals, libraries, cultural networks and creative individuals. As an independent publisher Carcanet Press has been supported by the Arts Council for a number of years and therefore Alison Boyle is a regular attendee at their Board meetings, offering advice and keeping members informed of new initiatives and collaborations that may be relevant to their funded programmes.

Arts Council England is the national development agency for creativity and culture. See their website for more details: www.artscouncil.org.uk
